9% of people thought we won the 1995 Rugby World Cup?

HAVE THEY NO SENSE OF OUR DARKEST DAY?

LOL Yeah - a few there were either people with no clue whatsoever, people deliberately answering wrong, or people just clicking randomly

12/15

Had no idea where the first match was played, when Meads retired (knew it sometime early '70s) and how much money the handbag sold for scratch The handbag questions were BS though.

I thought our darkest day was '99?

Handbag I was close in my estimate but got a lucky guess Smile

I knew the first match though - one of those random bits of trivia you read one day Smile

Yeah, '99 was worse. I didn't know who got hit with the handbag (I guessed Andrew Mehrtens, figured his smart mouth deserved it) but magically guessed what it sold for on Trademe.

Which ones did you get wrong P & B?

I knew it was Masoe because it was funny that a big tough forward needed to be sorted out by Tana and a handbag. BTW he is still playing rugby in France.

Similar to you,

Ones I got wrong were "Where was the first game played? -- no idea", the Brian Lochore and Colin Meads date questions (I knew the vague range just not the exact date), and the first handbag question. I should have got the second one wrong too but lucked out. So 12/15 11/15 it must of been.

I remember where I was sitting in '99.
I remember the weather.
I remember it being a nice afternoon at home in Barcelona.
I remember the first half, I remember the confidence at the half time.
Then I only remember the pain.

My bet is: Aaron Smith

A lot of people loved Piri leading, he was good but Messam was a beast at it especially Kapa O Pango. Mealamu on the other hand...   silent

Aaron Smith you reckon? Could be, possibly Kaino? Maybe Read will step up as McCaw did a few times.

I think the "algorithm" is:

first, look for a player with maori roots.
if none, then the captain steps up.

Senior Maori player always has first dibs, but a senior team member (esp Captain) would usually trump a more junior Maori player.

I always found Messam's Kaea work quite ordinary in comparison to the likes of Piri. Mealamu too but the guy just oozes Mana so it wasn't quite the same.

Honestly dunno whether Aaron will do it, but don't see Read doing it either...certainly nobody obvious.

Wales were gash last weekend against England who were without players from their top 2 clubs. Based on that NZ should win comfortably.

Looking forward to see Gareth Anscombe getting his customary 20 minutes off the bench.

Stolen from the NZ Herald. Definitely the most predictable lineup they could have put out.

With Ngatai out with concussion that was the most predictable XV ever. Bench perhaps a little surprising with Harris over Taylor, and Tamanivalu too being a specialist 13. Maybe Fekitoa to cover wing, otherwise shunt Smith or Barrett out there.

I would have chosen Moala over Tamanivalu who can play both centre positions and on the wing, Harris was a surprise but other than that very predictable. Can't wait until Saturday, may have to buy me a nice box of something to enjoy the test match.

Are they looking for the new Woody in Moody?

Woody and Moody don't rhyme, at least in an NZ accent. Moody has been having an excellent season for the Crusaders so no surprise that he overtook Wyatt Crockett (I love that name) for the ABs too.
