I'm thinking we'll see a Smith/Cruden/Savea/Ngati/Fekitoa/Naholo/Smith backline for the first test against Wales. Simply not enough room for McKenzie at this stage.

Hopefully the selectors do give some of the marginals a chance throughout the series to start. I'd like to see the likes of Sopoaga/McKenzie given a shot.

Highlanders-Crusaders tonight should be epic.

TAB can't decide which to name the favourite, both are paying out $1.90.

There's a metric shit-ton of nonsense in this article about Super Rugby expansion but the suggested team names but the thing that gets me riled up. They are horrendous. Who would want to support a team called the San Diego Sprouts?

Sell out tonight for the highlanders v crusaders, generally the highlanders get up for these games. Even though the saders on what a 7 game winning streak? I think the home ground advantage will be pivotal.

Couple good match ups around the park:

Dixon vs Taufua
A Smith vs Ellis
B Smith vs Dagg

Would of been good to see Crotty vs Fekitoa go at it.

There was a time when such odds would have prompted every man and his dog to put money on the Crusaders.

Well that was a half of two halves. Great game so far.

Does anyone know who made the kick that lead to the Read near-try?

I think the pivotal moment of that half was when the Crusaders were up 9-3 and took the penalty shot rather than go for the corner. Should have pushed for the try. (Hindsight is 20/20 though)

Hurricanes-Highlanders tonight. TAB has Hurricanes as favourites, $1.77 for the Canes vs $2.05 for Highlanders.

Should be a good one!

Worst kept secret made official. Sonny Bill Williams is off to the Blues next season..

Imagine if they had signed McKenzie as well. That would have been a pretty good looking backline.

Word is Barrett is looking at a move to the Blues as well - not sure why he would do that, maybe with Sonny moving there it might make it more attractive.

Moala into the ABs in place of Ngatai as well.

If he does, that's a potential backline of Pulu/Barrett/Ranger/Williams/Moala/Ioane/Can't think of a fullback. Pretty good if they've got a decent fullback available.

Though not sure what he can achieve at the Blues that he can't at the Hurricanes.

He's been rumoured to the Blues for 2-3 seasons now and it's never happened...

If he's frustrated at an under-performing franchise then the Blues is not exactly a step-up in that regard...

Probably. Gives a pretty solid transition with Joseph to Brown to Hammett. Plenty of continuity.

What is your opinion on Hammet (Mark Hammet that is, no Metallica involved), you guys?

Canes fans don't seem to like the Hammer, but considering he got a win and a draw with the Sunwolves who have a terrible squad he can't be that bad of a coach. That being said I think everyone would have preferred if Brown stayed on.
